Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow...

I love this time of year. Christmas is, by far, my favorite holiday. It's a wonder why, seeing as I'm not that religious and don't care much about the birth of Christ. And any time you get my family together you can expect nothing but arguements and tears. Maybe it's because people seem so much more happy and giving around this time, or perhaps it's the cute old ladies in their festive sweaters and antler headbands. It might even be the weather. Living in Texas, you don't get much cold weather and you can almost forget about snow. White snow, that is.

I do remember once, when I was a kid, it snowed about one inch when I was living in Dallas. The snow was dirty and if you tried to make a snow angel not only was it brown, but your back was also now covered in mud. My sisters and I attempted to make a snowman but that was pretty pointless. It was about a foot and a half tall and its nose was made from a baby carrot. There was also a time a few years ago, when I was living in Corpus Christi, that it snowed. And on Christmas Eve, surprisingly. By morning, the snow was yellow but had left its mark on the roads. I'm a pretty bad driver as it is and don't need frozen roads to make it any worse.

I lived in Ohio for a month, February actually. And one day it snowed heavily. More snow than I'd ever seen before. School was cancelled so I spent the day at home watching television. At one point during the day I began to build a snowman with my cousin. I never finished it and ended up with just a big ball of snow. It was a cool experience though, it was the first time I'd seen real white snow that didn't melt after a few hours.

Anywho, as I stated earlier, I love Christmas. So being in the holiday spirit, I took a trip to Wal-Mart today to purchase some gifts to donate to children. I set off thinking I'd only spend fifty dollars but I got a little carried away and ended up spending about a hundred. Hopefully it will be worth it, because the donation box at my Starbucks has been almost empty for two weeks now. But for anyone who reads this, please go out and buy a toy or two and find a place to donate it. Kids less fortunate than us deserve some holiday cheer too.
